Delhi man dies after racing superbike with friends, accident caught on camera

A 24-year-old man was killed in Delhi on Sunday evening after he lost control of his superbike and hit a wall, according to a report in Hindustan Times.The accident was captured on camera as his friend, who was riding behind him, had a camera fixed to his helmet.[caption id="attachment_3457972" align="alignleft" width="380"]

AFP[/caption]Police said they received a distress call from the accident site around 9 pm on Monday.  On reaching the spot, they found a damaged motorbike, pieces of glass and blood.The victim was identified as Himanshu Bansal.The report quotes DCP BK Singh as saying that the victim's friends took him to the nearby Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.The police also said that Bansal was riding alongside two other motorcyclists at very high speed after attending a party, NDTV reported.Bansal was riding a Benelli TNT 600i while his friend was riding a Kawasaki Ninja 300. The third bike was also a Benelli TNT 600i. A police officer told NDTV: "These are expensive motorcycles. They  cost between Rs 4 and 6 lakh and can reach a top speed of nearly 200 kilometres an hour within seconds."The police officer added that Bansal was the son of a businessman in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar.According to The Indian Express, the trio was racing when they reached Mandi House Metro station. An elderly man was crossing the road which led Bansal to turn sharply as he tried to avoid a collision.However, he brushed the pedestrian's hand and lost control of his bike, ramming into the wall of Lady Irwin College, according to the report.

An eyewitness told The Indian Express: "The boy was just lying on the road. One of his friends was shouting for help while the old man who was crossing the road was also lying motionless. All I could do was call the ambulance and stay till it arrived."The report said that Bansal's body will be handed over to his parents after a post-mortem.The police have also registered a case under Section 279 (rash driving), and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at Barkhamba Road police station.
