CBSE extends Class 12 re-evaluation deadline amid portal access issues

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) extended the deadline for submitting applications for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets by one day, following complaints from students about technical difficulties on the board's online portal.

In a statement, the board announced that students will now be able to submit applications until midnight on June 7. The earlier deadline was set to expire at midnight on June 6.

According to CBSE, the decision was taken in the interest of students after several candidates reported problems accessing scanned copies of their answer books and completing the verification and re-evaluation process through the post-result services portal, which was launched on June 2.

"The CBSE has decided to extend the last date for submission of applications for verification and re-evaluation for the Class 12 board examinations, thereby providing students additional time and support to complete the process," the board said in a post on X.

The board opened the online facility earlier this week to allow students dissatisfied with their results to seek verification of answer books and request re-evaluation of answers. Students can also report issues found in scanned copies of their answer sheets.

CBSE has specified that candidates may raise concerns regarding missing pages, missing supplementary sheets, missing maps or graphs, blurred scans, incorrect answer books, or cases where evaluation may have been carried out against a different question paper set.

The extension comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding the board's evaluation process. Several Class 12 students alleged that the scanned copies of answer sheets made available by CBSE did not match their handwriting, raising concerns about possible discrepancies in the board's on-screen marking (OSM) system.

The allegations have triggered wider scrutiny of the evaluation process. In response, the Centre has announced the formation of a one-member committee to examine the procurement of services related to the OSM system used by CBSE.

The board has urged students seeking verification or re-evaluation to take note of the revised schedule and complete their applications before the new deadline expires on June 7.
