Thiruvananthapuram: The engine of an Assam-bound train derailed early on Friday near Kanyakumari due to a landslip caused by heavy rains though no one was injured in the mishap.[caption id="attachment_2554102" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. PTI

PTI[/caption]Train services in the single line section between Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram Central have been affected due to derailment of Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Express."The train had left Kanyakumari at 2300 hrs last night and got derailed after passing Eraniel station at 0110 hrs today due to landslip," a Southern Railway press release said.A pair of engine wheels slipped from the track due to landslip after heavy rain in the region.No casualties has been reported, the release said, adding, Divisional Railway Manager and restoration team are at the spot.
