New Delhi, July 16 (IANS) It was a muggy day in the capital Wednesday, with the temperature shooting up to 37.4 degrees Celsius -- three notches above the season's average. The Met department has forecast light rain Thursday.

The minimum temperature settled one notch above the season's average at 27.9 degrees Celsius.

"The sky will be cloudy Thursday. Light rain is expected too," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Thursday's maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 35 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Tuesday's maximum temperature was 39 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average, while the minimum was 28.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above average.
