EU to ban reusable olive oil bottles in eateries

The European Union wants to ban the refillable olive oil bottles that sit on so many restaurant tables across the continent.[caption id="attachment_792791" align="alignleft" width="380"] AFP[/caption]The European Commission, the EU's executive, said Friday that restaurants will only by allowed to serve oil in non-refillable bottles with proper content labeling as of next year.EU spokesman Olivier Bailly said consumers often get fooled by being served cheaper olive oil. Non-refillable bottles would also improve hygiene, he claims.Bailly said that "we are just protecting consumers."Currently there are no plans to do likewise with special packaging for butter, salt, pepper, other dinner table staples.AP
