DLF appeal against CCI order likely in tribunal on Monday

New Delhi:Realty major DLF is likely to filean appeal on Monday with the Competition Appellate Tribunal(Compat) against an order from fair-trade watchdog CCI, whichhas asked the realty giant to pay a fine of Rs 630 crore for

abuse of its dominant market position.

The company has begun the process of submitting itsappeal and the petition is likely to be filed with Compat onMonday, the sources said.Soon after the CCI directive in August, DLF had said itwould challenge the same and that it has a strong case againstthe points raised in the order.

The case pertains to CCI having imposed Rs 630 crore fineon DLF on 16 August for abusing its dominant market positionand imposing unfair conditions on the buyers of its flats.Later in the same month, CCI passed another order in aseparate case wherein it asked DLF to 'cease and desist' frommisuse of dominant position, but did not impose any penaltyin this matter.

The orders followed enquiries by CCI on complaints filedby flat-buyer associations of two of the DLF projects inGurgaon.Last week, the associations filed a caveat in the Compat,requesting it not to decide on case against DLF without givingthem a chance of hearing.
