Bangalore, Chennai airports on high alert after threat call
Security personnel at Bangalore and Chennai airports were put on high alert on Wednesday after an anonymous threat call early this morning.An email was sent to the Bangalore International Airport on Tuesday evening informing about the presence of bombs at the airport, which lead to high alert and thorough screening at the airport.Meanwhile, another anonymous bomb threat call was received at the Bangalore airport on Wednesday morning warning of a bomb threat to a Bangalore-Chennai flight.Both domestic and international airports in the city were also put on high alert. Sources at the airport said that the CISF, which provides the security cover, has been alerted following the bomb threat call.Security officials conducted checks on two private airline flights that had left for Chennai from Bangalore. CISF personnel accompanied by bomb disposal squad checked the flights, officials said, adding that no suspicious items were found.(With inputs from PTI)
