Ryan Rickelton’s record ton for MI in must-win game turns special with parents and partner watching from stands

Ryan Rickelton produced a stunning innings to script history for Mumbai Indians during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium. The left-handed batter smashed a breathtaking 100 in a high-scoring game, reaching his century in only 44 deliveries. This is the fastest hundred ever for MI in IPL history.

Rickelton broke a long-standing record previously held by Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya, who had scored a 45-ball hundred back in 2008. Interestingly, Tilak Varma had also matched that 45-ball mark earlier in the IPL 2026 season, but Rickelton has now gone one better to claim the top spot. His knock also went past efforts from players like Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav on the list.

Rickelton celebrates ton with family in stands

One of the most touching moments came after Rickelton reached his hundred. His parents and partner were present in the stands, and the batter acknowledged them with a gesture during his celebration.

Coming in strong after a solid opening partnership, Rickelton dominated the SRH bowlers with ease. Earlier, Will Jacks provided a quick start with a 22-ball 46, while Suryakumar and Naman Dhir chipped in with useful contributions. Captain Hardik Pandya is also playing a short but explosive cameo.

Rickelton's ton came at the right time for MI, who are struggling in the bottom half of the points table and need a win to get back into the playoff race.
