Kyle Jamieson explains angry send-off to '15-year-old kid' Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: 'Never been so fearful'

Kyle Jamieson, who had been warned by the BCCI, has explained the reasons behind his intimidating send-off to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in an IPL 2026 match on Friday. 31-year-old Jamieson was so pumped with Sooryavanshi's dismissal that he was seen giving an angry farewell to Sooryavanshi.

Jamieson's aggressive celebration was criticised by fans online, but the pacer has provided a fresh perspective on the controversy after the Delhi Capitals defeated the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in Jaipur.

Jamieson explains angry send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 

Jamieson explained in a post-match interview that he was every "fearful" of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, something that he has never felt before. Sooryavanshi has earned a reputation for going after opening bowlers in the powerplay.

"I don't think I have ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. But yeah, we have obviously done a little bit of planning going into the game. It was nice that it paid off," Jamieson said.

Explaining the gameplan, Jamieson said that the plan for DC bowlers was to bowl full.

"For most teams looking at Rajasthan's side, it's their top two that have got them off to fliers. Starcy got one with a high full toss and I got one with a Yorker. It was nice to get away early and sort of I guess stem the flow a little in the power play," the pacer added.

Jamieson also praised teammate Mitchell Starc, who finally played his first match in IPL 2026, and picked up three wickets.

"He is world class right, so whenever you can have one of those guys in your squad, it's a huge benefit. He came at the right time, we sort of needed to get a bit of a move on, on the points table. Nice to share the new ball with him, he is pretty surreal," Jamieson added.
