Sandberg goes back to the dollmaker who assembled the conduit of demonic activity. As the story goes, he and his wife take in a  group of girls several years after the tragic death of their own child, but they’re soon tormented by their possessed creation.John R. Leonetti’s Annabelle picks up with the doll in the 1970s when a married couple welcomed it into their home, where they were plagued by horrific supernatural occurrences. James Wan, who helmed The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, worked with Sandberg as a producer on Lights Out before returning as a producer on Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation. This trailer doesn’t inspire a bunch of confidence, coming off as unoriginal and contrived — especially when compared to the first film.
