Who is Nupur Mehta?

There is precious little information available about Mehta on the Internet, though there are plenty of 'steamy' photos that the Sunday Times could have thoughtlessly picked up and used as representative of Bollywood.

Bollywood starlet Nupur Mehta made news when the London-based Sunday Times published her picture (with the face blurred) to go with a report on the alleged links between bookies and Bollywood. She calls this an attempt to defame her and Bollywood, and is threatening to sue the paper for defamation.[caption id="attachment_241468" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="Jo BOle so Nihaal poster."][/caption]There is precious little information available about Mehta on the Internet, though there are plenty of 'steamy' photos that the Sunday Times could have thoughtlessly picked up and used as representative of Bollywood.From what exists online, Nupur Mehta is a one-film wonder, having starred in the 2005 Sunny Deol-starrer Jo Bole So Nihal. Last year, she featured on the cover of one of India's first Mills & Boons versions written by Astha Atray, His Monsoon Bride after being chosen in a model hunt contest.She has, as reported by the Times of India, worked with model-management company Riccardo Gay and had modelling stints in Milan and has been featured in campaigns for the likes of Gianfranco Ferre, Missoni, Trussardi and Soprani.She has also starred in TV commercials for Fanta and Pirrelli, and been the pin up girl for a Fiat calender. She also featured on the cover of Sportswear International's June 2001 issue.
