Vishwaroopam 2 poster features pensive Kamal Haasan and tricolour; film to release in 2017

The first look of Vishwaroopam 2, the sequel to the 2013 film starring and directed by Kamal Haasan, has been released. In it, an injured Haasan, who looks pensive, holds his hand over his heart with the Indian tricolour superimposed on him. The first installment in the series was released in 2013. It performed well at the box office and was one of the highest grossing films in that year. The sequel was forgotten about because of financial issues, but the film's making was confirmed by Rajesh M Selva, who posted the news on his Twitter account. In another tweet, he added that the film would be dubbed in Hindi and Telugu, and that it would be much larger in scale than the first film.Kamal Haasan spoke about how he was personally ensuring that the release of this film takes place smoothly. "For all looking forward to Vishwaroopam 2, I'm personally getting involved to clear the path. Bigger obstacles are out of the way. What's left is tech and legal," the actor-filmmaker tweeted.He added that roughly six months of post-production work was still left to be done.Vishwaroopam 2 is a spy thriller written and directed by Kamal Haasan, who plays a RAW agent in it. The film also stars Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah in important roles, and is set to release in 2017.​
