Katy Perry's new video for the song 'Birthday' from her fourth album Prism(2013) features five whacky characters who crash birthday parties and put you through the most awkward moments.Released on 24 April, the video has been described as 'bizarre' by some and as "glorious retro-disco explosion" by Thomas Erlewine from AllMusic.[caption id="attachment_1496873" align="alignleft" width="380"]The has already Screenshot from the video.[/caption]It is brilliant how she manages to pull of five different roles and yet remains unrecognisable in all of them. There is Goldie with the plunging neckline who gives a 90-year-old man lap dance, Kriss the Clown, who gets drunk behind a tree and Yosef Shulem, an annoying Jewish MC who does beat boxing at a Bar Mitzvah. Then there's Ace, the animal trainer who eats a live mouse and scares little kids and finally, Princess Mandee, who dresses up like a royal and does awful face paintings.Introduced as the "World's worse birthday party entertainers," the video truly stands by its words.Although it has largely received positive reviews from audience and critics, the joke about rabbis and circumcision might not go down well with the Jewish community. The song was originally released last year and saw huge digital sales. It entered the top single charts of South Korea and France. The video which was released yesterday has managed to get a million views so far.Check out the video below:
