SPYder: International rights for Mahesh Babu's upcoming bilingual sold at Rs 23.5 cr?

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's upcoming thriller SPYder has been one of the most anticipated films of the actor in recent times. Ever since the teaser of the film was released it got millions of Babu's fans hooked into the film and related developments. Directed by AR Murugadoss, SPYder is touted to be a reboot of the director's 2012 Tamil film, Thuppakki starring Vijay.[caption id="attachment_3384500" align="alignleft" width="380"] Mahesh Babu in Spyder. Image from Facebook[/caption]While it was earlier reported that the satellite rights of the film was sold to Zee network for Rs 15 crore, now it is being said that the rights of the film in the US has been settled at Rs 15.5 crore, reports telugu360.com.The report further suggests that the deal was finalised between the makers and Atmus and AZ India, one of the leading distributors in the US. They are reported to sign a formal deal within the next two days.Since Babu has a great overseas market, the filmmakers didn't lose any opportunity to mint as much as they can in the pre-release businesses. The out-of-India Tamil rights have been sold for Rs 8 crore, adds the telugu360.com report. So far, it has already garnered around Rs 23.5 crore which has set a record, just second to Baahubali.SPYder will see Babu in the role of an intelligence agent called Shiva and it is rumoured that the film will deal with the issue of terrorism. It also stars Rakul Preet Singh and SJ Surya. It is produced by NV Prasad's NVR Cinema and is slated to release this Dusshera on 27 September.
