Shia LaBeouf's film Man Down sells only one ticket on opening weekend in UK

Shia LaBeouf's latest war thriller drama film Man Down reportedly grossed only £7 on its opening weekend in the UK.[caption id="attachment_3370466" align="alignnone" width="825"] Image from Facebook[/caption]This is the equivalent of the price of one ticket, as the average admission cost into movie theatres as set by the UK Cinema Association is £7.21. The film played only in one theatre called Reel Cinema, and was simultaneously released digitally. Man Down releases on DVD and Blu-ray next month.Man Down, directed by Dito Montiel, is about a soldier who serves in the Afghanistan war and returns home, only to find his city devastated and his wife and child missing. It has a one-star and three-star rating respectively on film review websites Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB.Paul Dergarabedian, a senior analyst at Comscore, a box office tracking company, said, "That opening could be in the Guinness World Records or something.” However, many other indie films have also seen similar results at the box office. Emma Watson's The Colony earned £47 and was termed a flop, while Richard Gere's The Benefactor made only about £25.Man Down also stars Gary Oldman, Jai Courtney, Kate Mara and Clifton Collins Jr. In an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf called this film "therapy", explaining that the film was offered to him when he was going through a low in life.LaBeouf previously starred in mainstream films that were blockbuster hits, such as the Transformers franchise and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Since then, he has shifted his attention to independent cinema.
