Phantom Thread: More details revealed about Daniel Day-Lewis' last film set in 1950s

Fans of legendary actor Daniel Day-Lewis are looking forward to his upcoming film Phantom Thread not only because he stars in it, but also because it will will be his last. The music score of the film will be provided by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, and Lesley Manville and Camilla Rutherford will star alongside Day-Lewis.Day-Lewis character is based on Charles James, who came to be known as America's first Couturier, reports The Telegraph. His popularity is said to have been stronger outside of the US, with orders coming in from stars as big as German actress Marlene Dietrich. By the 1950's, which is the era the film focuses on, James' dresses could commands exorbitant sums amounting to £1,500.A source quoted in the Telegraph article says, "Word on the local grapevine is that fishing boats have been hired for February in Staithes and some filming will also take part in various cottages on High Street."The crew of Phantom Thread has been spotted in Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes so far.On 21 June it was announced that he will be retiring from films, and that Phantom Thread would be his last performance. "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject," said his spokeswoman.Day-Lewis' career spans over four decades, and in these years, he won three Oscars as a lead actor for There Will Be Blood, My Left Foot and Lincoln, making him the record holder of the most awards in the Best Actor category.
