Oscars 2024: Emma Stone breaks down on stage as she wins Best Actress for 'Poor Things', quotes a Taylor Swift song in speech

Poor Things saw Emma Stone breathe life into her complex yet charming character, and as expected, she won the Best Actress academy award for her performance.

As she accepted her second Best Actress award, Stone said, "The other night, I was panicking, as you can kind of see, happens a lot."

"That maybe something like this could happen, and Yorgos said to me, 'Please take yourself out of it.' And he was right, because it's not about me. It's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It's all of us together," added Stone.

The actress went on and stated, "I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film."

"And, most importantly, my daughter, who's gonna be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor," the star continued, before quoting pal Taylor Swift's lyric: "I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl." (Swift's song "Bigger Than the Whole Sky" is from her Grammy-winning album Midnights.)"

In a historic feat, the Killers Of The Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone bagged the Best Actress award at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) 2024 after defeating Emma Stone who was nominated in the same category. She became the first Native American to win the particular title at the prestigious ceremony. Notably, Gladstone was nominated alongside actresses like Annette Bening for Nyad, Carey Mulligan for Maestro, Margot Robbie for Barbie, and lastly, Emma Stone for Poor Things.
