Netflix's IO trailer: Anthony Mackie, Margaret Qualley try to escape post-apocalyptic Earth for Jupiter's moon
IO is an upcoming science fiction film starring Anthony Mackie, Danny Huston and Margeret Qualley.

Screenshot from YouTube[/caption]Margaret plays Sam Walden, a young scientist dedicated to find a way for humans to adapt and survive in the Earth's hazardous environment, rather than abandon it for Jupiter's moon, IO. Her determination to stay is swayed when she encounters another survivor, Micah (Mackie). "I saw dozens of people starve to death because of hope. I won’t make the same mistake twice," he tells her.With less than 48 hours left for them to catch the last shuttle leaving the planet, she must decide whether she wants to join the rest of humanity and start afresh or stay and fight to save Earth. They plot their journey, which will demand them to cross a lot of hurdles, to safely reach their destination.Danny Huston also co-stars in the film, directed by Jonathan Helpert, according to Complex. Clay Jeter, Charles Spano, and Will Basanta have penned the story. Collider writes that IO was originally scheduled to release on Netflix in 2017 and was shot in 2016. The reason for its delay is unclear.IO will premiere on 18 January.Watch the trailer here.
