Mersal: Vijay's upcoming film will have massive release surpassing Spyder, Baahubali
Mersal is touted to be made at a lavish budget of Rs 130 crore; it is the most expensive film in Vijay’s career.

Tamil superstar Vijay's upcoming film Mersal is one of the most anticipated films in South India. Given Vijay's huge fan following and the buzz around the film, Mersal has been making headlines right from the day the film's first look was revealed.[caption id="attachment_3732277" align="alignleft" width="380"]

For quite some time now, Kollywood (as the Tamil film industry is called) steered by the Tamil Film Producers' Council, has been protesting against the state government over the double taxation in Tamil Nadu. There were reports doing rounds that the producers' council have threatened to not release any films unless the extra 10 per cent tax over and above the goods and services tax (GST) is done away with.A Hindustan Times report suggests that Mersal is slated for massive releases in many other states as well. In Kerala, it releases in 350 screens, breaking the previous record of 320 screens by Prabhas' Baahubali 2. Malaysia, which is a huge market for Tamil cinema, is reportedly going to have a massive 800 screens release.Mersal stars Vijay in a triple role and he will be seen romantically paired with Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. SPYder villain SJ Suryah continues with his antagonistic role in this film as well. Directed by Atlee, Mersal releases on 18 October ahead of Diwali.
