'Masaan' a new wave in Indian cinema, says Shekhar Kapur

Mumbai: Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is very impressed with Neeraj Ghaywan's debut drama Masaan after he watched the movie.The Bandit Queen director attended the screening of the Varanasi-set film last evening along with movie's leading actors Shweta Tripathi, Vicky Kaushal and director Ghaywan.[caption id="attachment_2428770" align="alignleft" width="380"] File photo of Shekhar Kapur. Deeply heartfelt story and performances," Kapur posted on Twitter.An elated Ghaywan said Kapur has been the inspiration for budding filmmakers to experiment with their craft."You ushered us in! Thank you for being an inspiration!," he said.The film follows a group of people living in Varanasi, which reserves a cruel punishment for those who play with moral traditions.It is an Indo-French co-production produced by Manish Mundra, Macassar Productions, Phantom Films, Sikhya Entertainment, Arte France Cinema and Pathe productions.PTI
