Jerry Seinfeld not coming to Mumbai, organisers blame traffic cops

It was one of the most anticipated shows of the year, even if we haven't yet hit the halfway mark for 2015. Comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld was coming to Mumbai. Tickets were priced at staggering numbers - the cheapest cost Rs 7,500 - and still, people coughed up the cash. The first warning bell that rang was when heavy discounts were offered for tickets in certain price ranges. Then, this morning, a little more than 24 hours before the event, Seinfeld's show was cancelled. According to the organisers, Only Much Louder, this was due to parking and other logistical issues.OML issued this statement:"We regret to announce that the Jerry Seinfeld shows scheduled to take place this weekend (Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15) have been cancelled. Fans who have purchased tickets for the shows will be issued a full refund by Wednesday, March 25 ... ."Issues related to traffic and parking at the venue, which were brought to our attention only a couple of days ago, forced the cancellation of all artist travel arrangements pending a resolution of these logistical issues. But in spite of our best efforts to resolve these matters with the authorities quickly, which resulted in suitable alternate parking and traffic plans being arranged, this was not in time to reorganise the required artist travel logistics."

A few days ago, Mumbai Mirror had reported that traffic police said that they will not allow the event to take place at The National Sports Club of India (NSCI) until the organisers show that they have enough parking space for about 5,000 people.OML had then responded with assurances that they have all the necessary permission required to host the show at NSCI and have made parking arrangements at Atria mall.
