The journey of Peddi is ultimately more than just Ram Charan’s big film. It is increasingly beginning to look like a conscious return to the cultural soil that shaped him. The film may have opened to mixed reactions, with Janhvi Kapoor being criticised along with the makers for the way her character was portrayed.

Ram Charan taking a break?

As per a report by Telugu360, the actor will take a hiatus from acting for three months to recover from his injuries which he sustained during the making of the film.

On saying yes to Peddi

Speaking about the film, Ram Charan said the project connected to him because of its rootedness. “There was something very honest about the world of Peddi. The people, the environment, the emotions, none of it felt manufactured to me. I have grown up watching people like this, speaking to people like this. Somewhere, it reminded me of the soil and culture I have always carried within me.”

Industry insiders say Charan was involved in preserving the authenticity of the character’s dialect and physicality. Several portions of the film were reportedly shot in harsh outdoor conditions, with the actor choosing realism over personal comfort in order to maintain the texture Buchi Babu wanted.

In many ways, Peddi represents Ram Charan at his most stripped-down: less concerned with image, more interested in emotional texture. The film does not position him as a distant larger-than-life figure. Instead, it places him directly in the mud, sweat and chaos of rural life.

Ram Charan’s Peddi shows the leading man in an ambitious roles where he tries to give the eponymous character his all. This is unlike how his female counterpart fares in the supposed masala potboiler. That role has been essayed by Janhvi Kapoor. Her only reason to exist was to be at hero’s service so that he could quench his appetite for her midriff.

The criticism has been scathing so far ever since Peddi has hit the screens. And there’s a post going viral that describes this Ram Charan outing as ‘The Most Expensive Disrespect To A Leading Woman In Indian Cinema.’ Janhvi Kapoor has liked the post that made it go viral.
