Guru Randhawa reacts to being compared with Dharmendra at 'Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay' trailer launch: 'To be compared...'
Critics and fans observed not only Randhawa's physical resemblance to a young Dharmendra but also acknowledged his charismatic on-screen presence in the trailer
Singer Guru Randhawa is all set to make his acting debut with G. Ashok’s upcoming film Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay. The movie also features Saiee Manjrekar and Anupam Kher. During the trailer launch event, a media person compared Guru Randhawa to the legendary actor Dharmendra in his younger days. In response, Guru Randhawa graciously said, “Yarr pehle to aapne acting ke bhagwaan se mere ko compare kra hai. Unka naam hi liya hai mere naam ke saath, uske liye bahut-bahut thank you.Dharmendra sir…I think we come from the same state. Unhone bahut zada contribute kra hai Indian cinema ko. Agar aap keh rahe ho, to mai yeh baat ek per cent maan leta hu, but mai unke aas paas bhi nahi hu. Mujhe unki duaaein chahiye, unki blessings chahiye. (Firstly, you have compared me to the god of acting. You have taken his name alongside mine, and for that, I am very thankful. Dharmendra sir... I think we come from the same state. He has contributed immensely to Indian cinema. If you say so, I accept this statement to one per cent, but I am nowhere near him. I need his blessings, his prayers)."Guru Randhawa continued, “Jitne bhi India ke superstars hai, jinhone ne bahut sara kaam kra hai life me, jinko dekhke hum sabne cinema ko pyaar krna shuru kra hai, sabki blessings chahiye. But ek baar aapne ahgar Dharmendra sir ka naam liya to mai chahta hu aap Dharmendra sir ke liye shor machao ek baar. (All the superstars of India, who have done a lot of work in their lives, whom we all have started to love cinema by watching, need their blessings. But once you mentioned the great Dharmendra sir, I want you to make some noise for Dharmendra sir.)”Talking about his journey from singing to acting, Guru Randhawa added, “Journey jab maine shuru kri to mujhe sirf ek cheez thi ki maine TV pe ana hai. Maine pehle shuru gaane se kra to mai gaane se TV pe aya. Ab mera movies ka mann hai to mai movies se TV pe aa raha hu. (When I started my journey, I only had one goal - to appear on TV. I began with singing, and through that, I made my way onto TV. Now, with my interest in movies, I'm making my way onto TV through films.)”Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay will be hitting the big screens on February 16.
