Death Note: Mysterious and haunting new trailer leaves many questions unanswered

The trailer of Death Note, which is an adaptation of the famous Japanese manga series of the same name, was released on 22 March, 2017, and it is mysterious and haunting.[caption id="attachment_3348686" align="alignnone" width="825"] Youtube screengrab[/caption]The trailer opens with an old book falling from the sky on to the feet of the protagonist Light Turner, who picks it up and turns it to find 'Death Note' written on the cover. The scene cuts to a shot of the book placed on a table alongside an apple, and the sound of a menacing laugh in the background.The protagonist reads the mysterious book at his study desk. "The human whose name is written in this note shall die", he reads out loud, and scribbles a name in it, which is not revealed to viewers. Next, we see three people jump off the top of a building.There are shots of a city skyline, cheerleaders in slow-motion and a man walks through a room bathing in red light, through a narrow and dark corridor with his face covered. The words "Justice of Kira" are written on a wall of this room, and four bodies which are presumably dead lounge on couches.There is also a surreal shot of a Ferris wheel bending under its own weight and collapsing to the ground. There seems to be a subplot of romance in the film too; the protagonist kisses an unnamed girl.At the end of the trailer, the protagonist, who seems very frightened, comes face to face with L, who says, "Shall we begin?" in a creepy, hoarse voice.Directed by Adam Wingard, Death Note stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi and Shea Whigham.
