Blade Runner 2049 trailer: Denis Villeneuve's sequel to the classic looks impressive

When the announcement was made that a sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 masterpiece was in works, to be honest, the prospect worried us a little.But then the cast and the crew was announced.[caption id="attachment_3166794" align="alignleft" width="380"] Blade Runner 2049. Screengrab from YouTube[/caption]Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 will star Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Robin Wright,  Ana de Armas, Lennie James, Barkhad Abdi,  Dave Bautista, among others. Oh, and did we mention Harrison Ford reprises his character of Rick Deckard. Phew!Villeneuve, who in recent years has built a reputation for himself (and rightly so) with movies like Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario and Arrival, seems like an exciting choice for a character driven, atmospheric sci-fi.Talking 'atmospheric', master of the trade Roger Deakins will reunite with Villeneuve as the cinematographer, while Jóhann Jóhannsson will be composing the soundtrack for the movie.The film itself is set thirty years after the events of Blade Runner.  A new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Deckard (Ford), the former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.The first teaser released by the production delivers on expectations. Heavy on the atmosphere, it gives away nothing and at the same time raises a billion questions.But once again, although beautifully constructed, it's just a teaser.
