All Is True trailer: Kenneth Branagh plays Shakespeare in this period drama about his final days

All Is True has been penned by Ben Elton and has a backdrop set in 1613 when Shakespeare was acknowledged as one of the greatest writers of the age. However, the burning of his Globe Theatre brings disaster. In despair, Shakespeare (played by Kenneth Branagh) returns to Stratford, where he is forced to face the realities of a troubled past and a neglected family. Following the death of his only son Hamnet, Shakespeare strives to better the relationship that he shared with his wife (played by Judi Dench) and his daughters.[caption id="attachment_5686181" align="alignnone" width="825"]

Still from All Is True trailer. YouTube[/caption]The trailer depicts a struggling Shakespeare as he fights a war within himself in order to 'feel'. Dench is almost astute in her dealings with Branagh in the beginning, calling him a mere 'guest' in the house. In the many years that the Bard was consumed with building his own success and self-image, he left his wife and daughter alone to deal with their share of problems. Refreshingly, Branagh seems to have included some subtle comic elements to his storytelling as well.All Is True is slated for an initial release in New York and Los Angeles on 21 December with a wider release expected in 2019.
