Tata Group veteran Noel Tata on Tuesday announced that he will step down as the Non-Executive Chairman of Voltas in November after attaining the age of 70, marking another leadership transition within the Tata conglomerate.

Addressing shareholders at Voltas' 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), Noel Tata said the meeting would be his last as Chairman of the air-conditioning and engineering major.

"As you might be aware, this will be my last annual general meeting as Chairman," Noel Tata told shareholders during his address.

His exit from Voltas comes less than a week after he announced that he would step down as Chairman of Trent, another Tata Group company, also in November upon reaching the group's retirement age for non-executive chairpersons.

Noel Tata has chaired Voltas through a period of strategic expansion and operational transformation. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its position in India's room air conditioner market while expanding its engineering services and international projects business.

The announcement forms part of a broader leadership transition underway across several Tata Group companies as senior leaders reach the retirement age prescribed for non-executive directors.

Voltas is expected to announce Noel Tata's successor closer to his retirement in November. The transition is likely to ensure continuity in governance at one of India's leading cooling solutions and engineering companies.

The development comes at a time when Voltas continues to focus on strengthening its consumer business amid rising demand for cooling products and expanding its engineering and project execution capabilities.
