Railways freight loadings see over five percent growth

New Delhi: Railways have carried 426.14 million tonnes (MT) freight during April-August this year, as compared to the freight traffic of 405.42 MT carried during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.11 percent.

The freight traffic from April-August as compared to the corresponding period last year has witnessed an increase of 20.72 MT, according to data from the railway ministry.
In August this year, the freight traffic carried by railways was 83.14 MT registering an increase of 4.74 MT over the freight of 78.40 MT carried by the railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.05 percent, according to the data.
