Implementation to streamline Student Lifecycle, HR & Finance functions to ease interaction between the university and its constituents
Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) has announced it has begun the implementation of open standards based Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Applications to automate its academic and administrative functions.
With this software solution, the university will be able to offer a robust and scalable online, self-service interface for its 30000 students, faculty members and administrative staff.
BITS Pilani will integrate operations of all its campuses in India and abroad (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, Dubai) and will enable the university to integrate its student lifecycle academic, HR and finance functions of its existing legacy systems to the new generation PeopleSoft applications.
Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise applications, including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft HCM and PeopleSoft Global Payroll 9.1 will cover the complete student lifecycle and back office operations including human resources, payroll, inventory, purchase and asset management.
Students, alumni, faculty and staff will benefit from getting immediate access to real-time information.
Once implemented, BITS Pilani will be able to integrate and centralise all its operations between all four campuses. Wipro Ltd., a Platinum level partner of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) is implementing the solution.
"Creating a consistent IT environment has not only provided us faster access to information, but a solid collaboration across our various campuses, sharing of best practices along with obvious cost savings and greater flexibility," said Prof K. E. Raman, Director, BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus and the Champion of the Task Force responsible for implementing ERP. "Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise applications are a comprehensive solution based on industry leading practices and processes which will help us provide a unique learning experience to our students and increase performance of our staff and faculty."
"We are delighted to support BITS Pilani in their endeavour to create a world class institute in India. Higher education institutes across the world are turning to IT to support their business agenda," said Sunil Jose, vice president, Applications, Oracle India. "It is no different in India.
