Allied Telesyn, a global provider of Ethernet/IP access solutions and a known player in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, announced its new product AT-ON1000 Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) Optical Networking Unit (ONU) that is designed to support data services of up to 1Gbps over a GEPON network.

The AT-ON1000 is built for businesses that require cost-effective high bandwidth to deliver high-speed voice, data and video services over a passive FTTB/FTTH network.

It complements Allied Telesyn’s end-to-end GEPON solution including GEPON equipped iMAP, intelligent Multiservice Access Platform and iMG, intelligent Multiservice Gateway.

Allied Telesyn AT-ON1000 simplifies the delivery of data services over a Passive Optical Network (PON) that is suitable for residences or businesses that needs high bandwidth connection for example, the use of VoIP and IPTV services, video-conferencing and FTP downloads.

The AT-ON1000 converts the existing Ethernet switches and router into GEPON network termination points, allowing for a complete PON overbuild of service provider networks.

Furthermore, AlliedView Network Management Software (NMS) manages and configures the complete GEPON solution from Allied Telesyn routers and switches through the iMAP Optical Line Termination (OLT) and the AT-ON1000.

GEPON iMG and AT-ON1000 are both optimized for delivery of high bandwidth data and triple play services over a PON network. The AT-ON1000 supports the low cost delivery of Ethernet services over service differentiated VLANs, while iMG646PX (GEPON iMG) also intergrates VoIP and Switching and Routing functionality into a common platform. These interchangeable end points coexist on the same OLT PON, thus allowing maximum flexibility for network designs.

"By leveraging our core competencies in fiber, optical electronics and Ethernet, we continue to be the global Ethernet and access technology leader, and first to deploy integrated IP Triple-Play and GEPON-FTTx services." says Jason Phoon, Deputy Director for Product Marketing & Fulfilment in Asia Pacific for Allied Telesyn.

According to a release with GEPON, Chief Information Officers (CIOs) can collapse their individual transmission level 1 (T1s) for Private Branch Exchange (PBX), corporate WAN, and Internet access, as well as their legacy ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) for corporate video-conferencing, onto an optical Ethernet link provided by a cutting-edge service provider.
