Altair Appoints Panduranga Rao Chirala As VP, India Services Ops
New role and appointment to drive the business strategy for Altair's multi-disciplinary product development consultancy in India.
Altair Engineering, a provider of simulation, advanced computing and enterprise analytics solutions, has announced the appointment of Panduranga Rao Chirala as Vice President of Altair ProductDesign India. Rao has over 25 years of experience in Product development, Business development and Engineering services.
In this new role, he will have primary responsibility for Altair’s consulting services operations in India and support the company’s global product development consultancy business with off-shore capacity. He will be responsible for managing and growing the India based engineering service team for product design.
Prior to joining Altair, Rao held management positions at Vama Industries, Mahindra Engineering Services and worked with organisations like Hero Honda Motors Ltd, Satyam Venture Engineering Services, Mahindra & Mahindra and Vehicle Research & Development Establishment (VRDE).

He also has had extensive experience in the Indian market scenario, both as a customer with several OEM’s as well as a service provider to the Indian and global market. His appointment represents an important stage of Altair’s commitment to invest in its Indian engineering services operation to achieve best-in-class status for this center,” said Pavan Kumar, Managing Director, Altair Engineering India.
Panduranga Rao’s educational background has been focused on Engineering with a Masters in Automotive Engineering From VJTI(Bombay University), Mumbai, 1987 and a Bachelors Degree of Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, 1983.
