Guwahati Joins the Movement as Suraksha Reloaded Drives Road Safety Forward

The Guwahati chapter of Suraksha Reloaded concert brought together powerful voices and performances, setting the tone for a shared commitment towards safer roads, moving the conversation from awareness to responsibility. This is exactly what Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan, an initiative by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in association with NHAI, aims to achieve. 

 By focusing on changing human behaviour, the initiative goes beyond rules and regulations, with Suraksha Reloaded taking this message to cities across the country through conversations, performances, and public participation. 

 The concert began with a vibrant dance performance by Binita Chetry, setting an energetic tone while reinforcing that road safety is a shared movement. This was followed by a powerful nukkad natak by Pratidhwani Art Studio from Roshan Ke Productions. Built around the idea of “keeping Yamraaj away,” the performance used relatable, everyday scenarios to highlight the consequences of negligence and the importance of responsible behaviour on the road.

 Taking the conversation forward, Jatin Bora, renowned actor and filmmaker, brought a heartfelt perspective to the stage. He emphasised that road safety is not just about following rules for oneself but about caring for others on the road. Urging society to move from concern to responsibility, he reinforced the idea of turning parvaah into kartavya, reminding everyone that every action on the road impacts someone’s life. 

 Adding a different dimension, stand-up comedian Harpal Singh used humour as a tool to address serious issues around road behaviour.  

 Through relatable observations, he highlighted everyday negligence in a way that connected instantly with the audience, making the message both engaging and memorable. 

 Bringing in an emotional depth, Deeplina Deka delivered a musical segment while also speaking about the lack of empathy often seen during road accidents, where people hesitate to step forward and help. She highlighted the Government’s Rahveer initiative, which recognises and rewards citizens for assisting accident victims and ensuring they receive timely medical care, reinforcing the importance of compassion on the road. 

More than just a series of performances, Suraksha Reloaded Guwahati reinforced a larger truth: road safety is not complicated. It lies in simple choices, wearing a helmet, following lane discipline, slowing down, and being mindful of others. As the event came to a close, the message extended beyond the stage, reminding everyone that safer roads are not built by systems alone, but by people.
