Emirates says "Namaste India" on Nation's 65th Republic Day

To mark the occasion of India's 65^thRepublic Day, Emirates has launched celebratory fares for travelers in India to destinations in Europe, Africa and South America. It has also released a video featuring its very own employees that shows each of them greeting the viewer in different Indian languages.

The airline currently employs more than 12,500 Indian nationals in a variety of roles across the Emirates Group, including 69 pilots and 882 cabin crew. The cabin crew members who starred in the video were selected for their proficiency in Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Malayalam, Kashmiri, Kannada, Gujarati, Tamil and Bengali.

"Since the launch of our first flights to Bombay and Delhi in 1985, Emirates has been fully committed to the Indian market and has carried over 19 million passengers to its global destinations across the network", said Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates' Vice President, India and Nepal. "We will work hard to continue providing Indian travellers with the best possible service, to be the airline connector of choice and to hopefully expand our flights to and from India," he added.

The airline carries over 1,400 tonnes of weekly cargo combined from Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Additionally, it operates two weekly freighters with a capacity of over 200 tonnes payload on the Dubai-Mumbai-Dubai route as well as the Dubai-Chennai-Hong Kong-Dubai route. Overall, Emirates carries more than 3,000 tonnes of cargo from India to various points across the world every week.
