German automobile maker Volkswagen has been fighting a legal battle in the dieselgate scandal in the US but that has not slowed the company down. In fact a recent report says that it is working on some exciting new vehicles including a long range EV.Volkswagen CEO Hebert Diess spoke to German magazine Wirtschafts Woche and said that the upcoming EV will have a range somewhere between 248 to 372 miles (400 to 600 kms). But since the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is a bit more liberal with its efficiency figures it will probably be somewhere close to 300 miles (482 kms) on a single charge.If the claims are true, it will make the unnamed car the longest-range EV in the market. Tesla’s upcoming Model 3 is said to have a range of 200 miles (321 kms).Diess also said that the EV will have a similar size as the VW Golf but have the cargo space of the larger Passat sedan. The car will be just a prototype, but the final consumer version of the car will be sent into production in 2018 or 2019. Volkswagen is not the only one as Chevrolet is a step ahead and will start shipping its all electric Chevy Bolt EV at the end of this year.
