Spec Comparo: Hero Maestro Edge vs Honda Activa vs TVS Jupiter

Hero MotoCorp has just launched the new Maestro Edge in India at a starting price of Rs 49,500 (ex-Delhi) for the base LX version going all the way up to Rs 50,700 for the top spec VX. The Maestro Edge is positioned above the Maestro and features revised and relatively edgy styling. Sharp lines adorn the front apron and the mirrors feature dual tone shades.

The rear end also looks more appealing than the regular Maestro and features an LED lamp. The Maestro Edge gets alloy wheels with the front wheel measuring 12-inches. Hero has also offered a decent feature list that includes USB charging port in the luggage bin, service due and side stand indicator. The Maestro Edge also gets telescopic forks at the front as opposed to the trailing-link unit in the Maestro.

The Maestro Edge is powered by a 110cc engine that develops 8.4PS and 8.3Nm. Given the list of features and the engine capacity, the Hero Edge is poised to take on the likes of the Honda Activa 3G and the TVS Jupiter.

While the Honda Activa 3G is a popular scooter it uses old school trailing link front suspension and relatively tiny wheels. The engine is smooth and refined with decent fuel economy on offer that makes it a hit with the kmpl janta.

The TVS Jupiter is equipped with 12-inch wheels both at the front and the rear, unlike the Maestro Edge that gets a smaller 10-inch wheel at the rear. The Jupiter and the Maestro also get a convenient external fuel filler, a feature absent on the Honda Activa 3G does not get. The Hero Maestro Edge and Honda Activa come with IBS (Integrated Braking System) and CBS (Combi Braking System) respectively. The feature applies both brakes even when one of the lever is pulled, effectively reducing the braking distance
