India's first Porsche 911 R gets delivered to a collector in Bengaluru

A Porsche collector in Bengaluru took delivery of a rather unique Porsche sports car thats for once is not focussed on top speed. Yes, Porsche Bengaluru delivered a rare Porsche 911 R to a lucky Porsche collector who also happened to be the first one to take delivery of this limited edition sports car.How rare? Well, Porsche will make only 991 examples of the 911 R. The model as mentioned earlier, it more focussed on handling than top speed. That handling is in part thanks to the rear-axle steering system, that so far is only available on the 911 GT3 RS and the 918 supercar.The system guarantees precise steering with enhanced direct-turning characteristics that also allows for higher stability.The sports car features a 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat six engine coupled to a six-speed sports transmission, that delivers 500hp and can hit 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds. The Porsche 911 R can reach a top speed of 323 kmph.The Porsche 911 R was built specifically for motor racing in 1967. Porsche recently announced that it would produce the same but make it a limited edition by producing just 991 units. The car is a reminder of the old model that built complete a stage of the legendary Tour de France Automobile of 1969."The 911 R epitomises the Porsche brand, with the clear design DNA of a classic 911 while performing as a racing car should. The 911 has set the standard for generations after the ground-breaking model was first introduced in the 1960's. The 911 continues to evolve to new highs and is considered the quintessential sports car - the benchmark for all others.
