Bajaj Qute, launched globally in 2015, may finally arrive in India by year end

Bajaj Auto's quadricycle, Qute, previously known as the RE60 would be arriving in India by the end of the year, according to a report which quoted Rajiv Bajaj managing director of Bajaj Auto, confirming the same.[caption id="attachment_3884183" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image: Bajaj Auto[/caption]Bajaj Auto launched the Qute back in 2015 thereby making a foray into the country's four-wheeler territory. But it was made available only for exports, with a price tag of $2,000 (approx Rs 1.35 lakh) in 16 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe and has been well received by the respective markets. However, the Bajaj Qute did not get the nod to launch in India because of claims that it was not safe.Based on the report by Moneycontrol, Bajaj said, “It is well known that the only country where the Qute is not permitted is our country (and it is) only because of competition. They have used all kinds of nefarious techniques to create problems through political circles and through courts."The company has also allocated an annual production capacity of 25,000 for the Qute at their Aurangabad plant.Inside, the Qute is powered by a water-cooled 4-valve DTS-i petrol motor that produces 217 cc of power. The single-cylinder engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and is capable of a top speed of 70 kmph and a fuel efficiency of 36 kmpl aided by the weight which is 450 kg. The company adds that the carbon emission from the Qute is only 66 g/km.
