Auto Expo 2018: Maruti Suzuki e-Survivor concept SUV features the company's experimental, low-emission hybrid system

The concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2018 is a two-seater, but we could expect Maruti to launch a four-seater when the e-Survivor officially launches in 2020.

Maruti Suzuki had already announced last month that it would showcase the e-Survivor electric concept SUV at Auto Expo 2018, and since 7 February marks the start of Auto Expo 2018, we finally got to see it in person.[caption id="attachment_4340365" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image: tech2[/caption]Claiming the e-Survivor to be the company's torchbearer in terms of design for future electric mobility solutions, the concept SUV also showcases the Suzuki Hybrid system, which will be at the core of its hybrid and electric solutions in future. The company claims that the e-Survivor pays tribute to Maruti's four-wheel-drive heritage, making it a capable electric off-roader.The e-Survivor depicts Maruti's core intent with electric cars going forward, something it describes as F.A.C.E. F.A.C.E stands for Four-wheel drive, Autonomous, Connected and Electric, which reveals that the SUV will be capable of autonomous driving.In terms of design, the e-Survivor gets a ladder frame and a compact body while also sporting a contrasting colour scheme. The concept's dimensions are 3,460 mm length, 1,645 mm width and a height of 1,655 mm. The concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2018 is a two-seater, but we could expect Maruti to launch a four-seater version when the car does officially launch in 2020.As reported by Overdrive, Suzuki has already begun work on setting up a battery plant for electric vehicles in Gujarat and has also tied up with Toyota to form an electric vehicle plan for India by 2020.
