Arjun Maini set for Macau Grand Prix debut

Arjun Maini is all set to make his debut in the 2015 edition of the Macau Grand Prix, that will take place between 19 and 22nd November, 2015, with British team T-Sport. The Indian racer who has competed in the 2015 edition of the European F3 championship with Van Amersfoort Racing will switch teams for this event. Maini had performed well at Pau street circuit in France earlier this year and he is hoping that he can once again do well at a street circuit, although it is the very formidable Macau track.

Competing for T-Sport might be just what Maini needs, and the team, that uses T-Bond engines, comes with considerable experience, even having managed a podium place in last year's event. Their driver Nick Cassidy took third place at the 2014 edition of the Macau GP.

“We are all happy here at ThreeBond with T-Sport to have Arjun driving with us for this year’s race. He has shown at the this season’s Pau Grand Prix that he likes street races and the Macau Grand Prix is the world’s ultimate street race, as a Macau rookie we realize it will be tough challenge but not impossible to get a good result," said team boss Russell Eacott of Maini's signing.

Karun Chandhok, who serves as Arjun’s mentor added, “Arjun has had a bit of an up and down season with Van Amersfoort. They've historically been very good but for a variety of reasons we decided it would be good for Arjun to do some running with other people. Macau is the Crown Jewel of the junior single seater ladder and is a good opportunity to get a strong result to end the season. T-Sport have had a car that finished in the top 5 in the last 2 years there but haven't had a good driver line up in Europe.  They have some good support from sponsors who were keen to back Arjun so it makes sense from all sides."

Needless to say young Maini is also excited about the challenge of driving at Macau. “I’m quite excited to be working with a new team for this race. The track is going to be a completely different challenge to Pau, as there are quite a few long straights with some extremely fast corners thrown into the mix. T-Sport have had quite a few really good results here and I’m sure if we can work together there’s no reason why we can’t bring home a good result. We had a two day Test in Silverstone to simulate the Set up at Macau and I was happy with the Testing.”
