Debates are a serious business.Right from those school debates — you know the ones; where teachers or senior students would force their views onto you and turn the whole exercise into a recitation exercise for you, and then if you didn't win, they'd scorch you with that 'you had one job' glare — to presidential debates, they provide a platform from which to articulate opinions, viewpoints and analyses. So, it was with no small sense of anticipation and enthusiasm that we tuned in, early on Tuesday morning, to catch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton go head-to-head in the first of three presidential debates.Yes, debates are a serious business. But they're also a time-consuming business. Who, in today's world, has 90 spare minutes to spend watching two people indulging in what is essentially an argument? An argument with a bit of structure, perhaps.
