Egyptian court clears Mubarak-era officials of corruption

AP [/caption]The MENA news agency says the Cairo Criminal Court made the ruling Tuesday in the retrial of former Premier Ahmed Nazif and former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly, both of whom served in Mubarak's Cabinet before the January 25, 2011, uprising that eventually forced Mubarak out of power. The two men faced charges of squandering public money.The case stems from allegations they collaborated in awarding a German firm a contract to import license plates by direct order.Over the past months, many Mubarak-era officials have won a series of acquittals, mostly in corruption-related cases.AP
