If you’ll just peek out from under that rock for a moment, you’ll notice that a few million Indians are buzzing about one thing: Coldplay. Well, that and demonetisation. The band performed live in Mumbai for the first time ever and lead singer Chris Martin’s renditions of Vande Mataram (with AR Rahman) and crowd favourites, Fix You and A Sky Full of Stars had fans mesmerised. What does a dedicated fan do after a show like that? Follow Chris Martin on social media of course!Unfortunately, it seems like thousands of Indians can’t tell Coldplay’s Chris Martin from the comedian Chris Martin on Twitter.Seriously, we can’t tell them apart! All white folk look the same. Right?
Martin, the comedian, was initially taken aback by the response…
But then he got a few hundred more followers. So why not make hay while the sun shines, eh?
We welcomed the suggestion:
And Chris was also very gracious.
Few thought to ask the obvious question:
Now that he’s got a dedicated fan base…
…why not host a comedy show in India. Chris is a comedian, after all.
Why would we say no?
But we did have to caution him on one point…
…and some seem to prefer this Chris to Coldplay’s Chris anyway.
We’re still not sure why so many of us are following the wrong Chris Martin on Twitter. Our best guess is that he’s the only verified Chris Martin on Twitter and if you don’t look closely, Chris does bear a barely passable resemblance to Coldplay’s lead singer(!)And you call yourself fans?
