Chennai: Two women passengers detained, found with 20 kg of banned drug

Two women passengers were detained in Chennai for allegedly being in possession of banned ephedrine drug, airport officials today said.

Chennai: Two women passengers were detained in Chennai for allegedly being in possession of banned ephedrine drug, airport officials today said.

The Kuala Lumpur-bound women were found carrying 20 kg of ephedrine in their checked-in bags when they arrived at the airport to fly to their destination by an international airliner here last night, officials said.

They were later handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, officials said, adding, the value of the seized drug was estimated to be around Rs 20 crore in the international market.
