Can Nawaz Sharif deliver on his promises to India?

Will Nawaz Sharif make good on the promises that he has made to India or will he lose track of his goals in the midst of several internal problems?Speaking to CNN-IBN, former diplomat KC Singh said, "He had a problem with the Pakistani military. He is the President of the Party. Here he is the man in charge, which was not the case in 1999."[caption id="attachment_781445" align="alignleft" width="380"] Can Nawaz Sharif make good on his promises? Reuters.[/caption]According to him, there are several areas in which he could falter.  "His handling of the Army has not been very deft. He has an autocratic streak. And most importantly, he has two fronts he has to deal with - US and Taliban," Singh said.This will create its own problems that he will have to address first, he added.But in this case Sharif may be aided by the fact that the military is also keen on ensuring better relations between the two countries.Security expert Hasan Asghari Rizvi said, "The military is in favour of improvement of relations in India because there are other security fissures in Pak-Afghan border and tribal areas. Once these are settled, then comes the stage of resolving disputes.According to him, there has to be an improvement in India-Pakistan relations over various issues for other promises to be fulfilled. If stalemate continues at the level of the two countries, then there will be very little improvement despite the best of promises that Nawaz Sharif might have made.
