A group of men forcibly took him as they approached a vehicle, later driving him to a remote area in Johannesburg where he endured severe physical abuse.The perpetrators coerced the pilot into surrendering a substantial sum, described as "thousands and thousands of pounds." This left him physically unfit to operate the return flight to London. British Airways promptly arranged for a replacement to assume the cockpit responsibilities. Since the incident, the traumatized pilot has been on leave, receiving support from his colleagues.Describing the ordeal as reminiscent of a movie plot, a source revealed that the pilot was deceived into assisting the woman, only to find himself forcibly taken away.
