'At no point did I or anyone at SpaceX promise coverage over Crimea': Elon Musk hits back at Ukrainian accusations

Elon Musk Saturday hit back at Ukrainian accusation of not allowing their drones ‘to destroy part of the Russian fleet’ off the Crimean coast via Starlink satellite.A Ukrainian official Friday accused Musk of “committing evil” by not allowing Ukrainian drones to destroy part of the Russian military fleet via Starlink interference. He held Musk responsible for Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities from the same fleet.“By not allowing Ukrainian drones to destroy part of the Russian military fleet via Starlink interference, Elon Musk allowed this fleet to fire Kalibr missiles at Ukrainian cities. As a result, civilians, and children are being killed,” he wrote on X.The accusation came after CNN Thursday quoted an excerpt from an upcoming biography of Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson. The biography revealed how Ukrainian armed submarines approached a Russian fleet near the coast of Crimea “lost connectivity and washed ashore harmlessly”.While Musk was being accused of cutting off Ukrainian forces in the middle of an operation, the biography writer Isaacson Friday clarified that Musk didn’t order to cut coverage over Crimea. He said coverage wasn’t enabled all the way to Crimea as the Ukrainians thought."At no point did I or anyone at SpaceX promise coverage over Crimea," Musk said while sharing the post.Earlier Thursday Musk said the Ukrainian government requested to “activate Starlink all the way to Sevastopol” in Crimea. However, he denied the request as he believed helping the Ukrainian forces “sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor” would have escalated the conflict and made SpaceX “explicitly complicit in a major act of war.”
