Tablet Wars: Google's Nexus 10 vs iPad 4th generation

Google just launched a new 10-inch tablet, the Nexus 10, which it has co-manufactured with Samsung. The launch was a few days after Apple launched its iPad 4th generation which features some bumped up specs. Here's a look at the key specifications of the two tablets and which one fares better.Screen Resolution: This is one area where Google has beaten Apple's Retina Display quality. The screen resolution of the Nexus 10 is 2560 x 1600 for the 10.06-inch screen (diagonally) which comes to 300 pixels per inch beating both the iPad 3 and 4.The iPad 4 has a screen resolution of 2048×1536 pixel screen resolution at 264 pixels per inch for a 9.7 inch screen (diagonally).In terms of display aspect ratio, the Nexus 10 is wider with a ratio of 16:9, while the iPad 4 is at 4:3. This means better the Nexus offers a better video watching experience. So if you want a high quality screen, the Nexus 10 is the way to go.Processors: In terms of processing speed, the Nexus 10 has a dual-core Samsung Exynos processor clocked at 1.7GHz, and a quad-core ARM T604 graphics processor. The iPad 4 on the other hand, has a dual-core A6X processor with a dedicated quad-core for graphics. The Nexus 10 has 2GB RAM and while Apple doesn't reveal its RAM for devices, the iPad 4 is believed to have 1GB RAM.The Nexus 10 appears to be much faster for now. However don't forget that the iPad 4 also has a 64 GB version, while the Nexus 10 is only available in 16 and 32 GB versions for now with no Micro-sd slot for expanding memory space.[caption id="attachment_509216" align="alignleft" width="380"] Google's Nexus 10 is seen in this photo. AP[/caption]Speakers, Camera etc: The Nexus 10 has a pair of front-facing stereo speakers on either side of the display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel front camera for video chat. The device also supports dual NFC (Near Field Communication) both on front and back and has a micro-HDMI port.The iPad 4 also has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2 megapixel front camera. It does not support NFC.OS: The Nexus 10 ships with Pure Google, aka the Android 4.2 build of Jelly Bean. Some new features include a gesture typing keyboard similar to Swype which is available on Samsung devices, as well as panorama photo support.iPad 4 has iOS 6, and supports Siri although you'll have to live with the buggy Apple Maps application.Connection: The Nexus 10 supports Wi-Fi but no 3G or 4G support yet although Google should launch one soon as it did with the Nexus 7. The iPad 4 supports 3G and 4G.Price: The Nexus will go on sale on 13 November (India is not yet on the list). The 16GB version starts at $400 while 32GB is at $500.The iPad 4 starts at $500 for a Wi-Fi only version.Overall the Nexus 10 is cheaper with a better screen resolution if that's what you're going for.
