YouTube takes Logan Paul off Google Preferred programme, also drops him from YouTube Red shows

The fall of famous YouTuber and Vlogger Logan Paul seemed inevitable after his video mocking a suicide victim went viral on YouTube. The video was uploaded on 31 December and taken down on 1 January, however, YouTube took 10 days before addressing the issue.[caption id="attachment_4298187" align="alignleft" width="380"]

The thread read, “We expect more of the creators who build their community on YouTube, as we’re sure you do too. The channel violated our community guidelines, we acted accordingly, and we are looking at further consequences."Well looks like we know now what these consequences are. YouTube has reportedly decided to remove Paul from Google Preferred program, wherein advertisers can sell ads on the top 5 percent of creators on YouTube. This would result in huge loss of ad revenue for him and also hit his subscriber base.

"In light of recent events, we have decided to remove Logan Paul’s channels from Google Preferred," a  YouTube spokeswoman said according to Billboard. “Additionally, we will not feature Logan in Season 4 of ‘Foursome’ and his new Originals are on hold.” the statement continued. The Foursome is a YouTube Red comedy starring Logan Paul which has been signed up for the fourth season and the Originals mentioned in the above statement refer to the upcoming sequel of YouTube Red sci-fi thriller The Thinning called as The Thinning: New World Order. Logan Paul's channel has received one strike. Three strikes within three months will lead to termination of the channel by YouTube. The suicide victim video shows Logan Paul filming the dead body up close, making inappropriate remarks about the victim and laughing at the victim's expense. With Paul having more than 15 million subscribers on YouTube, the video went intensely viral and was also #10 on trending at one point before being taken down.Logan later tweeted that he had made a huge mistake and was only trying to "generate and raise awareness for mental health and suicide". Logan is currently taking "time out to reflect on his actions" and hasn't posted any vlog since the video was taken down."Our hearts go out to the family of the person featured in the video," the company said according to the Billboard report. "YouTube prohibits violent or gory content posted in a shocking, sensational or disrespectful manner. If a video is graphic, it can only remain on the site when supported by appropriate educational or documentary information, and in some cases, it will be age-gated. We partner with safety groups such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to provide educational resources that are incorporated into our YouTube Safety Center."
