Yoga A940 priced from $2,349 is Lenovo's response to Microsoft's Surface Studio

Lenovo A940 comes at a hefty price tag of $2349 onwards. So yes, it is catered to a very niche segment!

Lenovo has launched an all-in-one in its Yoga lineup called the Yoga A940, which seems to have set its eyes on Microsoft’s Surface Studio. The Yoga A940 is one of the first all-in-ones under the Yoga branding and it comes with a couple of unique features on board which I will elaborate on.At a starting price of $2,349 the Lenovo Yoga A940 caters to a very niche set of users, especially the ones considering the Surface Studio and it will start selling from April onwards.[caption id="attachment_5878691" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Lenovo Yoga A940. The Lenovo Yoga A940 comes with a 27-inch (optional) 4K display which is touch sensitive and can also work with the Lenovo Pencil. Image: Lenovo[/caption]The first thing that will strike you when you lay your eyes on the Yoga A940 is this protrusion from its left-hand edge. Called the Lenovo Precision Dial, this is the cylindrical dial which has two rotating circles and a button on the outer edge. The Lenovo Precision Dial will basically help you pair certain functions for the Dial when you are using creative software such as Adobe’s Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator or Autodesk Maya. You can also set certain features or settings for the Dial in certain programs. This seems like Lenovo’s take on the Microsoft Surface Dock, which also lets creators deal with contextual menus when working in their creative applications.The Lenovo Yoga A940 comes with a 27-inch (optional) 4K display which is touch sensitive and can also work with the Lenovo Pencil. You can also opt for a 2K display. The display has a dual hinge mechanism at the back, which lets you tilt the display to a 25-degree angle. Artists, illustrators can make use of this flexibility to get their work done. The display is also adjusted for Dolby Vision support and is complemented by Dolby Atmos supported speakers at the bottom edge of the display.

In terms of internal specifications, the Yoga A940 has features which will appeal to the enthusiast crowd. An 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor paired with up to 32 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, you have a fast 128 GB / 256 GB / 512 GB SSD options, which can be paired with 1 TB or 2 TB hard drive. Then there's AMD Radeon RX580 discrete graphics solution to take care of your multimedia needs.There's support for the Lenovo Smart Assist feature as well. One of them functions similarly to Windows Hello, letting you log in to your device by recognising your face. Then there are four far-field microphones on the A940 to help out with Cortana or Alexa on PC support. There's another feature called 'Snap Window' which Lenovo said lets you move content from your A940's display to a connected monitor by just turning your head.[caption id="attachment_5878731" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Lenovo Yoga A940.

Image: Lenovo[/caption]Lenovo is taking a huge bet here with the A940 which is trying to woo a class of customers who may already be or are looking to invest in the Apple (5K iMac) or Windows (Surface Studio) ecosystem. This is a niche market in itself and the A940 will certainly have to shine in benchmarks to stand a chance. But so far, it sure looks interesting.
