Xiaomi Mi 7 render pops up online showing a 'notch' display, vertical dual-cameras and no fingerprint reader

Xiaomi has unveiled its first flagship of the year called the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and now it would seem that the Chinese smartphone maker is going to focus on its next flagship, the Mi 7. Now not much is known with respect to the phone's design or the launch timeframe. However, renders have started to surface on the internet and they shed some light on the phone's design.[caption id="attachment_4416393" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Xiaomi Mi 7 render. Weibo[/caption]At first glance, we see that the render has a 'notch' display which is now increasingly becoming a trend for smartphone makers. The notch does not seem to be as big as the iPhone X and looks more like the size we see in the Oppo F7 or the Vivo V9.On the back, we see that the phone has a dual-camera system arranged in a vertical fashion like the iPhone X. However, the absence of a fingerprint reader on the back and on the front raises the question of a possible under-the-display fingerprint reader, similar to the one seen on the Vivo APEX or the Vivo X21 UD.Xiaomi could also be packing in a face unlock system, however, it is unlikely that the phone will have the complex depth sensing and 3D face mapping technology of the iPhone X. The presence of a metal back instead of a glass back could mean that the phone might not come with wireless charging as was predicted earlier.So far, we only know that the Mi 7 will come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 SoC. The render and all its design elements should be taken with a pinch of salt as no of it is officially confirmed by Xiaomi.
